As a Latino-American, I grew up in a close-knit, traditional family unit. In general, Latino families are communal, loyal, celebratory, and very relational. Unfortunately, due to various factors such as betrayal, unforgiveness, and isolation, my family of origin didn't celebrate holidays or special occasions growing up. This was formative for me.
